For our September meeting, we enjoyed a very special night of learning all about olive trees and indulging in an olive oil tasting. Robert Jaye, owner, from the Malibu Olive Company, educated us on the proper way to taste olive oils.
We learned all about olive trees, planting and caring for them and how olive oil is made. Robert taught us about the proper way to sample olive oil (who knew there was a formal process to it). We then sampled 3 olive oils (we were not told anything about them). We later found out one was very expensive and rated first place in the olive oil world, another that was very inexpensive, and the third was from the Malibu Olive Oil Company. Everyone agreed his tasted the best. Thanks, Robert! We all enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot.
