The Getty Villa has an exceptional one time exhibit of 2000-year-old bronze and marble statues which have never been out of Italy before. These exquisite statues were used in Roman gardens as attractive focal points of interest. The exhibit is called Buried by Vesuvius, Treasures from the Villa Dei Papiri and closes 10/28/19.

The Malibu Garden Club will visit the Getty Villa as follows:

Date: Wednesday, October 16th 2019
Time: 11:45 AM at the Getty Villa Cafe for lunch (dutch treat).

The Cafe serves casual Mediterranean inspired fare made with fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. We will eat on the terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Villa.

At 1:00 PM we will be given a guided tour of the special exhibit. Please RSVP by signing up at our October 2nd meeting or contacting Glen Gessford or call 310-592-1013. Because of limited parking space, this field trip is limited to members only. You can become a member by paying your dues online at this website.

Parking and How To Get There

By the grace of Getty, we have free admission and free parking for members. Normally, parking is $20 per car and admission tickets are required but not for us. Please carpool (2 or more people per car) because we are allotted only 18 parking spaces. I will give you our special transaction number to give to the gatekeep to allow you to enter.

The Getty Villa is located at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades. It is located on PCH at Coastline Drive 2 blocks north of Sunset. No entry or parking is allowed on Coastline Drive. The Getty Villa can only be entered from the northbound right-hand lane of PCH. Coming from Malibu go to Sunset and turn left and go up to Pavillions. Drive around their parking lot and come back out and turn left on to Sunset and then turn right on PCH and go north to the Getty Villa entrance.
