You may have thought blueberries only grew in Oregon, Maine or Chile. Think again! Fresh, tasty, lucious organic blueberries full of antioxidants are growing only 45 minutes away in Camarillo. Situated on top of a hill overlooking a valley of lemon and avocado trees, is a one-acre plot with organic blueberry plants growing in 8-gallon pots arranged in neat elevated rows convenient for waist-high picking under shade cloth. Picking buckets are provided and a golf cart will whisk you from the parking area to the top of the hill.
How to Get There
Take the 101 freeway to Camarillo. Get off at Pleasant Valley Road/Santa Rosa Road and go north. GO about 4 miles and turn left on Gerry Road. Follow the Gerry Ranch signs about 1/2 mile and park for U Pick Blueberries. Address: Gerry Ranch, 9015 Rosita Road, Camarillo, CA.
Lunch at Latitude 34
After picking blueberries, which are reasonably priced, we will proceed to eat lunch (dutch treat) at Camarillo‘s Factory Outlets new hot restaurant Latitude 34. To get there, take the 101 freeway west about 5 miles to Las Posas offramp. Turn left and go back over the freeway to the first light which is Ventura Boulevard. Turn left and go to the first light which is promenade drive and turn right. Go 1/2 block and turn left into a large parking lot. Go straight across the parking lot to the first building which is Latitude 34. It is next to pick up Stix and Chipotle. Eating at Latitude 34 is mandatory. Shopping at factory outlet stores is optional.
Latitude 34 is a culinary delight. The lunches are around $20. Go to L34camarillo.com to see their menu and location.
